Thanks to the quick work of the organizations below, we are all excited to announce the introduction of the region’s first Social Media Awards, The SoMe Awards (so – mee). This year’s award is on a tight time table, but your help with tweeting, blogging and spreading the word is appreciated. Most details are available at www.someawards.com. The Portland chapter of Social Media Club, SEMpdx and Software Association of Oregon are pleased to announce the first annual SoMe Awards to recognize outstanding Social Media projects and the people who created them.

Awards will be given in 7 categories based on factors such as originality, effectiveness and creativity. At least one member of the team who created the project must reside in Oregon or Southwest Washington to be eligible.

Award submissions must be received no later than 11:59 pm on Saturday, April 11, 2009 to be considered. Mark you calendars to attend the awards reception happening on Thursday, April 23. Location to be announced later this week. Check out www.someawards.com for more details.

We are learning here and won’t try to schedule an event during another industry event! Seems like many of you are going to SMX West this week and thus we haven’t been able to get as many sign ups for Tuesday’s Hot Seat as we had planned. We are canceling the SEO and Usability Hot Seat and are tentatively planning on rescheduling it for May. We’ll let you know for sure.
