Re: LinkedIn-You can always delete those not so personal contacts from your profile. I applied to job postings a number of times, even when listed as LinkedIn exclusives, and never rec'd a response, let alone an interview. In this way, LI seems more like a social network than a business professional network.

Oddly, I've been more particular with my Facebook connections. When you add the filter of "friend" it really does tend to mean something.

Anyway, good luck. Recruiters were always a joke to me, but one found my resume on Monster some time ago, and I've been onsite with a great company for a year now. So you never know.

Wow.

I am extremely interested in seeing your results. Keep us updated if you would.

I guess you've identified one of the problems we see with "Social Media Gurus." Shouting to the world that you reached 10,000 followers in Twitter doesn't mean much if the connections are faulty when needed.

Scott,

Go to http://www.jibberjobber.com . It is an excellent tool and site to help you keep track of your job search. Also, follow @seojobs on Twitter as there are tons of new positions being offered every day.
