PPC in Bad Times

I've heard similar stories from others, but would like to get a wider view. I am seeing an erosion of AdWords results almost across the board, especially with luxury services and products as opposed to essential services and products.

Two example exceptions would be a discount printer and a bankruptcy lawyer.

The bankruptcy business seems to be especially brisk. Makes sense.

In fact luxury taking a hit over essential makes perfect sense in a bad economy. But I remember some buzz early in this downturn that Search was recession proof.

That isn't what I am seeing from my PPC/AdWords corner. I really started noticing cost per conversion and ROI erosion starting in the last week of June.

Any similar or contrary observations?
