November is a month for thanksgiving and this month we’re thankful for our newest Member of the Month, Mia McMahon. Mia is a Marketing Associate at Michael Cottam SEO Consulting. In order to get to know her better, we asked her all the important questions and are sharing them with you.

About Mia McMahon

Area(s) of Expertise
“Social Media”

What do you like most about Digital Marketing and why?
“I love that it intersects so many different areas that I’m interested in: writing, design, my Instagram obsession, etc.”

What advice do you have for a college student who is interested in your area(s) of expertise?
“I am actually a senior at PSU so I’m still a college student for a couple more terms! My best experiences have been meeting great professors and other mentors (like my boss, Michael Cottam) who helped me realize that you can make a career out of digital marketing. It’s not really a college major option yet but you can cobble together enough electives and internships to make it work!”

SEMpdx

Who has been your favorite SEMpdx monthly event speaker and why?
“I loved listening to Leslie To. She’s such a boss lady and gave a killer presentation on analytics! Slay.”

Have you been to Engage (formerly SearchFest) and how many have you attended?
“Only 1 so far, 2 years ago! I was out of the country for last year’s. I’ll be attending the upcoming SearchFest/Engage though!”

If you could hear anyone speak at an event, who would it be and why?
Rae Hoffman/sugarrae because she’s a hoot and so smart. Love her.”

Randomness

If you weren’t doing what you’re doing now (marketer, developer, etc), what would you do?
“Food blogger or full-time succulent botanist.”

Favorite Beverage and why?
“Kombucha. I just started making it myself and you get this endless cycle going. It’s addictive (and v cost-effective, tyvm).”

To Bacon or Not to Bacon?
“YES!”

Anything else you want the SEMpdx community to know about you?
“Digital Marketing has been one of the ways in which I’ve been able to travel and live abroad for several months. I love it.”

Thanks, Mia!

Make sure to congratulate Mia on her status of Member of the Month!
