I made a blog bet with Tim Dineen that the Portland Trailblazers would beat the Boston Celtics in Boston…I was wrong and therefore, since I lost the bet, I am writing a post about Indeed.com, Tim’s employer.

My affection for Indeed.com is real and has nothing to do with either losing a blog bet or the fact that I think Tim is a great guy. I used and talked about Indeed well before I knew Tim. In an article for Search Engine Guide that chronicled my SEO job search that occurred 18 months ago (and if you are in or will be looking for a search engine optimization job, I recommend that you read the article), I shared with my readers that Indeed’s job search engine was an integral part of my job searching process.

If I do the same SEO job search now that I performed 18 months ago, I now show 2,731 open SEO job postings. My memory tells me that the number from 18 months ago was a little over 1,000 (and I anticipate the number to grow significantly over time).

Indeed also has some great features…some of which weren’t available when I last used it:

1) Email job alerts (which I used every day to send out my resume to new postings).
2) The salary survey (which pulls salary data from job postings to give out a real good idea of what a prospective job might pay).
3) Job search trends which mimics Google trends for job searches.
4) Forums. Some of the topics seem to get quite busy (7,620 comments in a thread about Delta Airlines Flight Attendant Interviews…Wow!).

In short, a job applicant can use Indeed.com for their entire job search without worrying about missing opportunities. Tim & his co-workers are doing an excellent job with the site!

  1. Thanks Todd!

I found that earlier Search Engine Guide article helpful when I myself was doing a job search in late 2006. Hopefully others will find this recommendation helpful today.

    Thank you

  2. I just want to point out that indeed’s jobtrends came out before google trends, therefore google clearly mimicked indeed on that one 🙂

  3. Very cool site –
There’s a neat feature that lets you get an RSS feed of your search too – that’s pretty slick!

Also, it looks familiar somehow, but I can’t put my finger on it…
