Content Marketing has become all the rage in inbound marketing. All too often though, it seems we’re talking all about the “why” but not much about the “how”. For our March educational event, we’ll be answering the question of “How do you actually do content marketing?” This panel-style session features three content marketing experts from diverse background who will give attendees their take on what makes a successful content marketing campaign. We plan to leave you with takeaways that you can use to get the best return on your content marketing investment. As always, our monthly educational event in March will be on the second Tuesday of the month. We’ll have networking from 5:00 to 5:30, an hour long presentation and Q&A, then another half hour of hang around time. Hope to see you there!

Beyond tried and true SEO tactics, Will also has a passion for semantic markup and structured data. In his popular post, “Semantic Markup is Virtuous“, he talks about why the web needs semantic data, emphasizing that “with each passing year, we add significantly to the sum of human information on the web, and rely on search ever more to connect us with that information. To make the process of retrieving and digesting it this much more efficient is going to go a very long way indeed toward making us happier denizens of the web. I want the web bursting at the seams with the stuff.”

Some marketers can get great results by going with their gut. However, as search marketers, we’re pretty data driven. We don’t just take shots in the dark and hope for the best. We research and strategize and execute and then quantify our results. That’s why SEMpdx is extremely excited to bring you a speaker who will lay out a whole new way to use research and data to help us do what we do better.
For our November event, Rob Bucci from STAT Search Analytics will show us what we can learn about our competition and our own performance by taking a ‘big-data’ approach to SERP analysis. In “SERP Analytics: How to Crush the Competition by Watching the SERPs“, Rob will talk about segmenting search queries into granular sets, deriving useful signals from analyzing the SERPs for our keywords, and then leveraging that information to dominate our competition.

Join co-hosts PRSA Portland Metro Chapter and SEMpdx to watch “Connected,” a funny, eye-opening, and inspiring film by Director Tiffany Shlain.
Honored by Newsweek as one of the “Women Shaping the 21st Century,” Tiffany Shlain is a filmmaker, writer, founder of the Webby Awards, and co-founder of The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences.
We’ll explore what it means to be connected in today’s tech-centric age – personally and professionally – through the film, along with discussion and networking afterwards.
Wed., Aug. 28, 2013
Hotel deLuxe - Portland, OR (popcorn will be provided, no host bar)
$5 at the door (if you previously signed up through Tugg, bring your ticket for free entry)
About the Film:
Have you ever faked a restroom trip to check your email? Slept with your laptop? Or become so overwhelmed that you just unplugged from it all?
In this funny, eye-opening, and inspiring film, Director Tiffany Shlain takes audiences on an exhilarating rollercoaster ride to discover what it means to be connected in the 21st century.
From founding The Webby Awards to being a passionate advocate for The National Day of Unplugging, Her love/hate relationship with technology serves as the springboard for a thrilling exploration of modern life…and our interconnected future.
Equal parts documentary and memoir, the film unfolds during a year in which technology and science literally become a matter of life and death for the director.
As Shlain’s father battles brain cancer and she confronts a high-risk pregnancy, her very understanding of connection is challenged. Using a brilliant mix of animation, archival footage, and home movies, Shlain reveals the surprising ties that link us not only to the people we love but also to the world at large.
A personal film with universal relevance, Connected explores how, after centuries of declaring our independence, it may be time for us to declare our interdependence instead.
